Westcon Group Appoints Bill Hurley as Chief Technology Officer as Company Pursues Distribution of Groundbreaking New Technology SolutionsTarrytown, NY, August 3, 2009 - Westcon Group, Inc., the leading specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, announced the promotion of Bill Hurley to executive vice president and chief technology officer, Westcon Group. Hurley, who joined Westcon Group in April of last year as its chief information officer, will continue reporting to President and Chief Executive Officer Dean Douglas. His new role will entail overseeing Westcon’s IT organization while identifying future technologies and capabilities Westcon will invest in as it drives growth in its global distribution portfolio. Over the past year, Hurley has undertaken a number of initiatives that have helped position Westcon for cost-effective growth, while aligning its IT practices to better support business processes and customer needs. These initiatives include an aggressive virtualization effort, consolidation of Westcon’s data center, conversion to cloud computing for Westcon’s development environment, and a conversion to SaaS solutions for the Company’s messaging and collaboration. In addition Hurley has provided thought leadership to Westcon’s OEM partners and resellers as they assess these new technology platforms.
